Welcome to Goodbye Stuff. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website and our free reusable-item pickup service ("Service"). By using our website or requesting a pickup, you agree to these Terms.
1. About Goodbye Stuff
Goodbye Stuff is a for-profit recycling company. We are not a charity, nonprofit, or junk-removal company. We provide convenient pickup of reusable items and direct them to reuse, resale, recycling, and recovery channels. Because we are not a charity, pickups are not tax-deductible donations and we do not provide donation receipts.
2. Service Area & Eligibility
The Service is currently available in select communities throughout the DMV. Availability varies by ZIP code and may change at any time. You can confirm coverage on our Schedule a Pickup page. We may add or remove service areas without notice.
3. Accepted & Prohibited Items
We accept clean, dry, reusable items such as clothing, shoes, household goods, small electronics, books, toys, and small furniture. We do not accept trash, food waste, construction debris, hazardous materials, paint or chemicals, medical waste, large appliances, or items that are contaminated, infested, wet, or beyond reuse. You agree to only set out items that meet our current acceptance guidelines.
4. Scheduling & Pickups
Standard pickups are generally limited to roughly 20 bags, boxes, or equivalent items; larger pickups may require photos and advance approval. You are responsible for placing items in the designated location, on the scheduled day, in a safe and accessible manner. We may review, reschedule, partially collect, or decline any pickup at our discretion, including if items do not meet our guidelines or cannot be safely collected. Pickup is provided as available; we do not guarantee a specific pickup time and are not liable for missed or delayed pickups.
5. Ownership of Collected Items
Once items are collected by Goodbye Stuff, ownership transfers to Goodbye Stuff, and we may reuse, resell, recycle, recover, or otherwise process them at our discretion. Please remove all personal, sensitive, and valuable information from items (especially electronics) before pickup. We are not responsible for data left on devices or for items left out by mistake.
6. Your Responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate information, to set out only permitted items, to comply with applicable laws and any community or HOA rules, and not to misuse the Service. You are responsible for ensuring items are free of hazards.
7. No Compensation
The Service is free. We do not pay for, or provide compensation or tax receipts for, collected items.
8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Service and website are provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Goodbye Stuff is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for items left out, lost, damaged, or not collected. Our total liability relating to the Service will not exceed $100.
9. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify or discontinue the Service, the website, or these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
